Zepbound
Tirzepatide approved for weight management — the current weight-loss leader.
Zepbound is tirzepatide FDA-approved for chronic weight management (and for obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity). It's the weight-loss twin of Mounjaro.
Results
In SURMOUNT-1, tirzepatide produced up to ~20–22% average weight loss. In the head-to-head SURMOUNT-5 trial, Zepbound beat Wegovy (~20.2% vs ~13.7%). See Wegovy vs Zepbound.
Dose & side effects
Weekly injection titrated to as high as 15 mg. Side effects are mostly GI early on; boxed thyroid-tumor warning; cautions for pancreatitis and gallbladder disease.
