Rybelsus is a daily oral tablet of semaglutide, FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes. It's the needle-free way to take semaglutide — with some rules.
How to take it
Rybelsus must be taken on an empty stomach with no more than a few ounces of water, at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking, or other medications — otherwise absorption drops sharply. Dose goes up to 14 mg daily.
Pill vs injection
Injectable semaglutide generally achieves greater weight loss than the current oral diabetes dose. For a pill aimed specifically at weight loss, note the new oral Wegovy (25 mg) approved in late 2025. See Rybelsus vs Ozempic.
Side effects
Mostly GI (nausea, diarrhea); boxed thyroid-tumor warning; same GLP-1 cautions as the injections.
